Nah. We got dumpsters, and bins w/ wheels that can be rolled out to the street, and the truck grabs it eat the garbage.

Kind of late question since Eric Adams made several sanitation policies this past year but to answer your question YES for old tenement buildings specially.

Commercial buildings get their trash picked up by private companies I believe and people who own homes have bins in front of their house like most places in America.

Now Eric Adams implemented a bin policy that all commercial stores must have bins in front.

Eric Adams also implanted curbside bins to eliminate piles of trash on the street



The critics don’t like it because it takes away parking but no more piles of trash on the street
