If the government shuts stuff down they should provide for people. Can’t tell people not to work but not help out

"Bootstraps"

"If you want it bad enough, you'll get it"

Typical excuses

I've always thought Dave Ramsey's financial advice was draconian and mostly unrealistic.

When everyone else was on his wave several years ago, I was said then that his advice wasnt it...

Dude will have you living in someone's basement or garage, eating crackers and bologna, and driving 1997 cash beater and trying to get from under debt the next decade. That isn't living.

The entire video outside of that one sentence is garbage.
There are many pressing issues that need to be addressed when $2000 is life changing money.

All that shyt about politics or mental health or whatever reads like bullshyt to me but yes, a small amount of money
like that should not radically change your life. IF it does, it speaks to larger systemic issues that need
to be addressed for the better of society.

Yeah but that's a personal fund, of your OWN money.
Which is solid financial advice.

If a person DOES NOT have an emergency fund built up, there is an issue.

1. if they can't afford it, shame on our society.

2. if they CAN afford it but spent that thousand or thousands on trinkets, shame on them.

And frankly, an emergency fund should be MUCH higher than $1000.
Mine for example is a minimum of $5000 and within two years should be
closer to $20,000 or more, with the goal to have a year's worth of expenses saved up for worse case scenarios.

I mean, the most rudimentary part of his statement is right. If these stimulus checks are make or break like that, then there are other issues. But for a lot of people, the larger issues aren't entirely theirs, seeing as if you work in this country, there's an overwhelming chance that you're probably not being paid a wage that has increased in line with the cost of living. Hell, there's a significant portion of people not even being paid a livable wage.

Or learn a skill (or trade) that out-pays two jobs. "Work smarter, not harder."

Cosign on this. I'm fortunate enough to have never had a need for multiple jobs. Especially since people I've known that have done that get trapped in that schedule.
