This isnt a revolutionary idea. You take care of your marriage first. You build the solid foundation for the family as that makes it easier to also pour into the kids. Plenty of marriages fall apart or suck because each person is only concerned about being a parent and they neglect their spouse and relationship. So you end up with two people coparenting that arent really in a good place with each other which makes things tense and harder to partner.

She's basically saying make your marriage a priority and sometimes that means even prioritizing it over other things like your kids. Often in marriages as time goes on people get into ruts because they're so focused on their careers and the kids that their relationship suffers and everything else eventually suffers as well. When you prioritize your marriage, which is the foundation for everything you do, everything else will benefit also because when mom and dad are happy and communicating with each other the kids will feel it also. I don't like the phrasing she used but thats basically what she means. Just don't forget how important your relationship is also and that it's at least equally as important as everything else.
