i got a question for yall, would you guys feel any different if AZ rhymed over production that French Montana does? basically an updated NY sound? sorta what Fat Joe did on the collab album with Remy and the collab Dre album he had? I think Nas had a well balanced of that on the first King's disease album with Hit Boy, so would Hit Boy fit AZ better? What about if he did a full album with Metro Boomin? I think that's what's missing with some of these legends that still drop albums, they don't update their production and being able to bring something new to the table would spark interest on outside of their fanbase. :jbhmm:

I 1,000% agree. Definitely what can be missing with the OGs. That’s why the Nas and Hit Boy worked. It married the two together and made great music. To be fair though Nas is a unicorn and has rapped on so much diverse music throughout his career that the transition is easier for him. But some of the OGs stepping outside of that comfort box would be dope.

AZ would sound fire over French's production, so would Jada or Fab. French is a trash rapper, but his production is A1.

I think these albums are specifically intended to sound like they could have been recorded in their glory days and purposefully avoid an updated sound.

that's the thing, if you're not bringing something new to the table on a new project, why even do it? It gets to a point that the new projects you deliver sound stale and phoned in. That's why Rae and Ghost's albums we're forgotten within a week. It was like a one time listen and never bumped again for most of us. And i know people are tired of hearing praise on what Clipse did but Pharrel is tapped in to newer sounds and that's why their album had replay value. You can still be spittin and keep the integrity of your craft, rhyming over updated production will give new life to your career.

I completely agree. Thought the Mobb Deep project was well done for what it was but other than that I don’t think I’ve kept a single song from any of the other releases.
There is a constituency on here who likes these albums though so they do have an audience.

I think thats been the problem with his music
Production is dated
Az needs to get with a dope producer who can choose better beats and help him with song structures and hooks
His verses are immaculate no issue
I like Uniqueness and the Nas joint so Fly cool but most these joints mid to terrible
Album is weak to me
