AZ got on Ilmatic through a phone call :ohhh:? Idk why I always thought AZ and Nas were pretty close friends before that. But I always forget AZ’s from Brooklyn.

And he said he met 2Pac at Jay Z’s release party :dahell:? Wtf

But I didn’t know AZ was this funny

Yea its been said for years now that Nas and AZ weren't ever super tight like that. They're more good acquaintances than friends, they just hapen to have GREAT chemistry in the studio. But its not like they hung out with one another every day or anything. Nas close friends are/were Wiz, Jungle, Nashawn and other QB guys he grew up with. I leave out Jungle only because thats his blood brother. I don't even think Nas and Havoc were all that close, just knew of one another growing up. And Mega was older and already out in the streets and then locked up by the time Nas and crew were really getting active.

The main difference with this interview compared to the others is that AZ is more prepared with how he wants to answer the timeline. Yeah it’s essentially the same answers, but he’s more assertive here.

@FreshAIG

I tend to agree with you that he’s just not a great interview, I don’t care what platform does it. Now the questions could definitely be better, but that’s not going to happen on these platforms.

Interviews better then the last 2 podcasts he's been on but AZ needs to loosen up more, he feels like he'll offend somebody if he prefers a rapper/group over another lol.

Plenty of artists choose a specific artists/groups on slime segment without any repercussions.

Yeah after the MEO and Bagfuel it became very clear he just doesn't have that ability to be captivating on these platforms. To be a good interviewee you have to be willing to be expressive, detailed, and engaging. That's just not his character. At least not in public settings. He seems very conscious of not looking a particular way. He'd rather nikkas say he's boring than chatty. He's really a throwback to the old Brooklyn, so I understand.

What I don't get is isn't Jay like 4 years older than him? How the hell they went to high school together?

Yeah, I'm no rap legend or street legend, but I could tell funny stories on street shyt for 2 hours easy, esp. if someone guided me, with what they were interested in more. He didn't give details, but he's real Brooklyn OG type, not like the guys who give the details. Didn't give a lot up on his career either, he had to have some reflection on the albums like Pieces of A Man, and 9 Lives

He didn’t do that to Nas or some of the other guests i’ve checked into the past few years. Kind of seems to me like he left the EXTRA chatty pattyish behavior behind unless it was someone like Kanye, who himself lives for Drama
He asked Nas about the Mega/Firm situation, but Nas never answered, just gave a vague "well ..." then went off on a tangent. He tried to get MOP to talk about Smooth & Trig...they caught on though. Every time Irv been on there was on some gossipy ish. This is the first year I didn't watch every episode though. Yayo, he let sag whatever he wanted...same for Turk.

He still does it, he just picks and chooses...or they'll edit it out now
