doe or die is a classic. one of the most underrated albums of all time. rather unique is top 5 song of all time for me.

i'll check for any album that has premo, pete rock, statik, buckwild producing. AZ verses on top of that is just a blessing. :blessed::blessed:

off the top I can't name other sequels besides the ones I've mentioned. feel free to list some more I'm forgetting about.

a rose by any other name is still a rose. really excellent albums or classic/borderline classcs are what they are. naming something a sequel I personally believe it makes the artist work harder to live up to the expectation they think fans want.
In addition to those three:
Liquid Swords II
Supreme Clientele 2
Food & Liquor II
Muddy Waters 2

I meant sequels that were released hence my reference to raekwon and cnn.

food and liquor is not a classic to me and also was only released five or six years ago.

it doesn't apply at all when the rest of these album sequels are 15 years in the making

They weren't 15 years in the making though, they were attempts to recapture the success of their previous works. F&L II fits that billing.

And I mentioned in the previous post that not all have actually come to fruition, but they spring from the same motive. Hell, a year ago Doe or Die 2 would have fit in the same category as the long rumored but not released ones that I listed.

We'll see how AZ does. Hopefully this album matches its lofty title.

Doe or Die is a personal classic for me.

But this shyt is easily a decade or even more too late. Dudes always pull this sequel shyt when it's way too late. Sosa should've fed the streets mad long ago. And these producers had their best years back when the first joint dropped. It doesn't even make sense to dust these cats off, as if you're gonna get the same quality out of 'em.

I can't remember the last time I heard a LES beat I liked. Pete Rock has been mediocre for a decade now. Preimer ain't put out a hot beat in 3 years or so. Statik has oversaturated the market with subpar beats.

That said, if any of these guys even bring their A game, this album will be serious.

Has L.E.S. placed any tracks since Hip Hop Is Dead? If not, his last three beats were:

Black Republican
Money Over BS
Hope (original unreleased version)

"Doe or Die" wasn't Classic but it was a solid 4 maybe even 4.5 MICS and it's most definitely better than a lot of mess being released today. AZ went in on it. His 2nd album "Pieces of Man" was solid too. AZ has always been an artist I check for. His NaS connection obviously brought me in but I've always respected him as a lyricist. I hope Premo gets on it.

I sense the essence of Larry Holmes will be all over this project, but I hope he has a few bangers on it.

Can we get some producers that aren't :flabbynsick:?

Alchemist and Harry Fraud on the boards would be :ohlawd:

if he soley produces AZ album i'll guarantee it will be the best album of 2013-14

the original doe or die is definetly a classic, i dont know wtf you other dudes are talking about. i'm not a big fan of part 2 albums either, but if anyone can pull it off, az is one of only a handful of rappers who can still spit like they did on their best release.

Rae and Nas no one else can do it...jay comes close but he hit and miss dude now. hope AZ throw Nas Rae and Beans on his album since its his last album.

Rather Unique - AZ -
:whew:

rather unique 2010 :whew:

I hate sequels 10 years after the fact

this is what you said and my response was tailored to your comments

those sequels (war report 2, cuban linx 2) were 10+ and 14+ years in the making

food and liquor is under ten years and is closer to five years. also it ain't no classic.

the other sequels you mentioned I was aware about I was speakin on albums released because you can't critique album sequels you never heard.
