He really said they don't play it cause "it's trash". CTFU, who was he tryin to fool? Then he said Meek Milly's music sounds East Coast. Meek has a southern drawl, and sounds good over southern tracks. That's why everyone knew he would blow

How does Meek NOT sound southern? That makes no sense...dude is always on southern production doing trap shyt, sounding like Ace Hood. He's not making "east coast" records. By that logic, Rick Ross is making "east coast" records too lol.

There are plenty of NY records NY radio could play but don't. The problem isn't that records need to fit metrics, it's what metrics NY radio is aiming for. They're aiming for black and white women, largely. Drake, Kendrick, etc score so high because women want to hear that shyt. Action Bronson has radio ready shyt, but it's not for the ladies. You could argue men need to listen to the radio more but still...the fact of the matter is that the deck is stacked against non-ladies rap. Fab gets his single popping every year because he understands this.

That's not to say NY isn't often trash in terms of writing songs. They kinda suck in that regard. Think about it: Joey Badass and all them NY cats can't write a hook to save their lives. You can be as lyrical as you want, but you NEED a hook/chorus.

meek been rapping like that before ace hood. lol. do the knowledge on meek. he dumbed down the flow a lil bit to rap over the new mainstream beats that he spits over, but he always had that flow. meek videos been circulating on this board for YEARS.

and meek's records aren't southern. most of them are moreso in the same vein of a vintage swizz beatz record. and that's not even how he got on. ross put him on off the strength of the success of his local hits, which were str8 philly hood party chit.

I do agree that meek has a natural drawl that appeals to southerners. kinda like 50 cent. but that's as far as I can go in agreeing with you on this, homie.

and yea, ross does make a lot of east coast records. there was a time period where he was clearly more popular on the east coast than he was down south.
