James 1:1-8 (New International Version)
1 James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ,
To the twelve tribes scattered among the nations:
Greetings. 2 Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3 because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. 4 Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. 5 If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. 6 But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. 7 That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. 8 Such a person is double-minded and unstable in all they do.

Perseverance is a quality that's needed to survive. Faith is needed to persevere. The definition of faith is a strong belief or trust in someone or something. Life is filled with obstacles and adversity that will break a man's will, in these difficult times who or what do you put faith in? If the answer isn't Jesus Christ, I ask you to analyze your situation and be truthful with the trials you face and how you react to them.

James does a excellent job in these eight verses on the importance of perseverance and unwavering faith in Jesus.

Why do you feel the need for ancient text that who knows who wrote to tell you how to think through convoluted storylines?

As humans we repeat a lot of the same patterns, behavior. The Bible is old but still relevant to today's times. I had to read and spend time with it myself before I began to understand this. Convoluted?? What's difficult to follow?

Theres nothing unique in these verses that validate the need to believe in jesus to make them any more or less valuable had they been written by a sage, elderly person

My favorite bible verse: Matthew 11:19
The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, 'Here is a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners.' But wisdom is proven right by her children."

My second favorite verse: Job 32:8: But it is the spirit in man, the breath of the Almighty, that gives them understanding.

My third favorite verse: Proverbs 6:10: A little sleep, a little slumber,
A little folding of the hands to sleep—
So shall your poverty come on you like a prowler,
And your need like an armed man

1 Corinthians 2:14 -The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit.
Bible is full of gems.
