I get what you saying, but if we talking hip hop then Chubb>>>BReal. His verse on Crooklyn>>> anything that Breal ever spit. As for Frost...:yeshrug:. Maybe those that know are just pissed he went at Rock like that. Fact of the matter is cypress is nothing without Muggs.

not really good lyricists breh

I'm not debating that but the best lyricists don't always make the best music.

I don't know of a single person that owned a Chubb Rock album. I'm just being real here. "Treat Em Right" was hot but cats wasn't copping his album.

Muggs is one of the most prolific producers in rap history so "Cypress is nothing without him" doesn't really mean anything. It would be like saying Gangstarrr is nothing without Primo.

Somebody post some BReal quotables. They were grimy popstars.

:russ:

Ok you gotta be trolling now. 1991 I was at Paseo highschool on 19th and Summit in KCMO. Literally the middle of the hood. Everyone was fukking with Cypress. Whole school bus knew all their singles word for word.

People didn't stop fukking with Cypress until like their 4th album.

Negativity (Kayfabe)

1:46 mark is why they dissed Chubb Rock, to B-Real he mockingly used their cadence on How I Can Just Kill A Man, and instead of "time for some action" he says "time for some lyrics". But I don't think he was dissing them.

I don't know who VA is, but, he's dressed like a 2009 rapper :russ:

You shooting yourself in the foot mentioning Gangstar. The entirety of the coli would agree that Guru was an above average mc. The Jazzmataz series the most common complaint was production.

When you was in High School? Kind of proves my point... "Insaaaane in the membrane."

All Im saying is the sum was greater than their parts. BReal has no noteworthy bars. Chubb is a lyricist to his core.

The fact that BReal tried to instigate a Black/Mexican war further lowers his status for me.

Trackmasters got their first break producing for Chubb Rock. Chubb Rock had Lady of Rage on his album in 1991 and almost signed her before she met Dre and and was on Death Row/The Dogg Pound. Y'all gonna put some respect on his name.

Yeah I'm talking about high school because the year was 1991. :gucci:

Unless you're pushing 60, when are you talking about?

I'm talking in real time, nobody gave a fukk about Chubb Rock outside of a couple singles. People fukked with whole Cypress albums.

Not really getting why this is so hard to understand. All that "but Chubb is a superior lyricist"....cool. That's internet talk. I'm telling you how the music was received in real time.

I'm talking in real time, nobody gave a fukk about Chubb Rock outside of a couple singles. People fukked with the first two Cypress albums, then they went way left and was cacs (and maybe Latins) only.

I'll agree to disagree with you. It was the beginning of the end. I revisited it later. It had a few joints, but...ehhh.

I dunno about now or how it aged. Honestly ain't listened to it in years.

I'm talking about when it first came out. Cypress didn't really lose their core fans until the 4th album.

Chubb was so underrated. Now he's barely a blip on most people radar. It puts generational warfare into perspective as far as Hip Hop is concerned. "TREAT EM RIGHT" Should still get play as an anthem today.
Chubb has one of the illest voices in hip hop
