Early high schooler. Remembering ignoring the news not paying attention getting out of school early and copping Jay's album with a butterface driving me...

Then I turned on TV at home and saw EVERY CHANNEL was talking about it even sport networks and knew some real shyt happened....

I still went to Spec's Music to cop the album too. I was driving myself, tho. We got out early that day

I was 15 in Virginia. I just remember that was the second time I'd ever been let out of school early for some type of non-local/non-school related event (the first was in middle school after the Columbine shyt hit national news). The levity of what happened didn't even hit me until years later.
im sorry breh but this typo :dead:

That was a wild ass day

I was up in 7th grade and all the classrooms just stopped everything and turned the TVs on, it didn’t register to me that this was some hardcore shyt going on….until my mom got off work early and had me yanked out of school for a early dismissal. Since New York and Washington got hit Chicago was on super high alert, people were sent home from work to go get their kids.

Hilariously it didn’t dawn on me of the severity of what happened until WWF came on and they broke kayfabe completely to have a special memorial show.

2nd period creative writing class...Senior year of HS

I was cutting up and joaning nikkas as usual after the teacher stepped out (presumably to get news of plane hitting) he came in and sat down didn't say a word...
None of us was really worried about him, cuz we was just getting in the classroom...then my pops came in...surprised the heck outta me!!! I thought the teacher/office had called him (cuz I was wilding out cutting up as usual)
he had a look on his face I'll never forget. He just said "My son, lets go" turned around and walked....I was stunned, got my ish and followed him. I remember him telling me there's no time to get my stuff out the locker, we gotta get to the car
He said someone "bombed" the towers and was just staring blankly...He and my mom from northern NJ so they was worried about family

I wanted to ask if he could run me by Union Station real quick so I could pick up "Ghetto Fabolous" and "The Blueprint" as I planned to do after school...but just looking at him and him not saying a word, just driving us home and listening to the radio, I knew
it was some other ish going on and he'd backhand me if I dared ask such a stupid question...Got home and saw the news on EVERY channel....glad when my mom and sister got home an hour later...they said it was pandemonium in the streets, mad accidents and traffic
All I heard was jets and helicopters flying over the city...DC was shook no lie.

Wild time, hard to really capture how it was if you weren't there...just a lot of confusion and anger with a lot of people. We NEVER seen nothing like this or even dreamed something like this would happen. Even Nickelodeon was running news...there was NOTHING to watch other than that on TV

RIP to the families of those who died. I wish one day, the real truth comes out...No conspiracy theories, but just real truth, whatever that may be

I was in school, 5th grade

I could see the Verrazano bridge from the window of my school. I was in 6th grade. The smoke travelled all the way over the bridge to my school. My pops worked downtown and didn’t get home until after midnight. That day was so crazy in NY
