This whole thread made me curious about baby. Rep for whoever writes a Top lb tracks.

As a big baby fan, I'd tell you try these. Granted 2 are features, but if you don't think he can rap after these tracks then you probably just won't like Lil Baby lol

My rebuttal to the baby/jay argument.
Baby is better than most of this Era.

Jay was immediately compared to Nas off of RD.
Competition was more fierce
Radio at large didn't embrace Jay's type of music, and it wasn't a knock back then.
Baby has the sex symbol female fan thing in his favor.
We didn't have streaming/social media back then.
Baby's debut has a lot of catch songs, he's done some beneficial features.
There are lots of metrics that exist now that didn't exist then.

Safe to say that Jay broadened/paved the lane for Baby to run with.

Jay was compared to nothing off of RD, it took him Vol.1 to start getting a buzz by being the original "The Game" keeping hot rappers in his mouth.

his skillset has always been revisionist he is a mainstream player and includes street anthems, but his pen game has been grossly exaggerated its his numbers people are gassed about.

he wasn't compared to Nas at all :mindblown:

You're basically reiterating my post. :what:
Everyone immediately took issue with him for the DP sample. And many thought RD followed too closely in Matics footsteps. Or at least attempted to

Read my entire post! Don't cherry pick, digest it. Then respond. The comparison hurt more than helped. Not very many accepted him at first because he was a poor man's wannabe.

But yes, grossly exaggerated early, Definitely not in later years. Whatever props he gets, he earned off the strength of no pens being involved.

i hear you bro, no doubt.

dude was the fu-schnickens then he saw what the nas, raekwon, mobb,wu,big, and them were doing and then he got out his tracing paper.

real hiphop heads thought the dude was a sdiekick to major players most his career, he never got on like that till 98 and if you dont know by now that you can buy your way into history books. Jay is a good example of that.
