Couple accused of taking sex photos in presence of 2-year-old

LAUDERDALE LAKES, Fla. -
A couple from Lauderdale Lakes is facing lewd and lascivious exhibition charges after they had sex numerous times in front of a 2-year-old boy, according to the Broward Sheriff's Office.

Deputies say 18 photos showing Duane Powell, 34, and Catherina Gosling, 24, involved in various sexual activities in front of the child were found on Powell's phone.

BSO was alerted to the photos after someone found Powell's cellphone at the gym and saw the disturbing photos.

In all of the photos the toddler was seen inches away from the suspects, according to deputies, and was seen crying in some of them.

According to the arrest report, Powell admitted to taking the photos, but Gosling denies ever engaging in sexual activity in the presence of the toddler.

On Friday, both appeared in bond court. A judge said each of the photos appear to show one of the couple's twin sons at a time, but it's unclear whether the photos involved both children or one of them.

Gosling claimed in court that her sons were eight months old when the photos were taken, but the judge said the photos were taken in February when the toddlers were already two years old.

Gosling said she removed the baby from the room after noticing he was there during her sexual activities.

Gosling's bond was lowered to $1,000. Powell's bond was set at $2,500 because he has a criminal record.
