Corporate isnt an image its a way of doing business and in that sense Baby fits the mold to a T.

Universal doesn't actually own any of cash money...they have exclusive distribution rights and a cut of the revenues in exchange for distribution and promotion...but it's still wholly privately owned by the williams brothers with autonomy..they own all the masters and everything...up until now, they haven't sold any portion to Universal...their distribution deal with Universal is close to over and they're about to renogiate, so they might decide to sell a portion...but judging from their history, it's doubtful

Universal is their parent company now. They have a stake in the label. The distribution deal they originally got has been up.

They were talking about the distribution deal last year because a number of companies wanted the brand in their stable for obvious reasons. It is officially a subsidiary of Universal. You can't have a parent company if you are independent.
Im sure they paid an arm and a leg to Baby/Slim to pull it in.

I could care less what car Jay drives, who he associates with or even what he owns... at the end of the day theres really not anybody (aside from Young Chris) that can say Jay did em dirty... would u say the same for Birdman? How can how a nikka got to where he is not have an impact on whether or not you respect him?
I agree with this sentiment, AND generally everyone's take on Baby. But honestly, Baby is probably not very far off from most of these other dudes. You can debate the particulars and subtleties, but clearly loyalties are very few. Baby is just more of a creep about it cus he had little kids getting their dikks sucked and drinking champagne on some Lou Pearlman shlt.

Meh, you got a link?...stuff like "parent company" is a lot of times semantics because a lot of media sources either don't know or care about the particulars of the how the labels are organized and just toss the term around assuming they're arrangement is like every other label imprint...Just read their cover story in Billboard last month talking about them nearing the end of their deal with Universal and considering their next move with the value of their full ownership a key
Them not only re-signing but also selling part of the company would've made some kind of news

i respect baby as the king of this type of sh*t. mainly cause nobody is still doing this anymore. showing off the new cars and just talking money. don't act like puff, jay, em, dre or a lot of rappers couldn't do this. well not a lot. but NONE do. so you gotta give him that
but what i don't get is why nobody ever gives slim ANY props??? he's the business man. baby has said many many times that he doesn't even control the business. its all slim making the calls and doing the big deals. but slim doesn't flash and doesn't want any shine. so basically he's the genius and baby is just the mascot. showing off the money that slim is making
for real slim been controlling and making cash money run for all these years and hasn't said more than 5 sentences. somebody should get a real good interview with him and see where his thought process and business acumen comes from
