Definitely missing the "went on to be a huge star" part of the equation, but I agree that the gimmick fukkin sucked.

First he was just a monster bodyguard for Del Rio.

Then he was gonna redebut as a monster heel solo after a couple vignettes



But one night on Raw he tweeted out he was gonna debut, and they either changed their mind last minute because Vince is gonna Vince or because he fukked that up.

Ended up being the Funkasaurus after that.

Yeah, the "Sexual Chocolate" gimmick wasn't bad, nor was it his first; his first gimmick was actually as a generic American Olympian babyface. He came up with the "Sexual Chocolate" gimmick himself after his Nation phase.
