Answer: The op posted a thread about her experience moving to bali with her girlfriend, citing that she finally able to have a 'luxury lifestyle' and 'a change of pace' much more cheaper than what she could afford in the US. She then urged others to move to Bali as well in the middle of the freaking pandemic, when Indonesia doesn't even offer work visa to foreigners, citing she can refer you to her agent implying for visa fraud. She also allegedly overstayed their TRAVEL visa by MONTHS. Her girlfriend in separate tweet confirmed that they're not paying any tax to Indonesia.
This angered natives because of gentrification. Foreigners make Bali so much expensive to the locals, even to native Bali people. She's saying Westerners can afford luxury lifestyle for cheap cost in Bali but then ignoring natives who told her that it's in the cost of the natives.
She said that Bali is a LGBTQ friendly place, ignoring the fact that she can say that because of her foreigner privilege, while local LGBTQ community is still underground to avoid judgement and violence.
There's also this 'saviour complex' thing that I can't even start to talk about without being teary.
In the end of her thread, she then promoted her $30 e-book about her journey to find peace in Bali or something in that topic.
She now locks her accounts because of the critism.
The issue then got so much bigger because some part of Black community then accused Indonesians for 'attacking her because she's black' when the critism never even brought up her race or skin colour. So it's more on that than the initial issue. (edit edit edit: there are also part of Black community who also criticize her, as pointed by the other redditor. My mistake on that, I apologize).
Edit:
For those who are curious, yes Indonesians are being critical to white foreigners too. There's this massive issue just months ago we managed to deport a
white stupido who arranged a massive yoga event in the middle of pandemic in Bali, or white Russian who drove a motorcycle to the water, or
a white trash who tan in the middle of the road. Just because it didn't happen in English doesn't mean it didn't happen.
Edit edit:
