I've said it a ton of times on here, Clarkson is somebody who'd be a key piece on a championship contender. The turnovers he'd usually commit are suppressed when you have a lot of talent around him putting him in better spots where he makes the defense pay. The Cavs don't stand around and watch him, defenses can't collapse on him because of the other threats he'd make plays to.

Nance is the not just a highlight player, but has the hustle it takes to ignite a team. Defense, rebounding, etc. Players are scared to get dunked on.

End of the day, it's a team game, all players on the court add to the total dynamic. Those guys went from suboptimal to perfect conditions for their games. I do not like giving them up for a "chance" to grab a superstar player (who puts winning as a priority).

That max player going to be looking at Lebron, deep and entertaining roster, top 10 pick and a weak conference if they're thinking Finals and a chance at a ring. You're supposed to convince Lebron to leave the team, not send the help he needs.

I am not a fan of just getting rid of guys before getting any guarantees..imagine if we get no big names, we got rid of D'lo, Clarkson, and Nance for zero reason. But getting a 1st round pick helps a little. Hopefully we can draft someone as good as we have before.

I was always willing to trade the young players but in the right deal. But trading away young dudes just to get cap space is crazy. But I guess we just gotta wait to see what they gonna do with it this summer.

I didn't wanna be the first to say it because everyone would attack me for being a Nance stan. Him and Clarkson are exactly the types of players you hope to get with that Cleveland pick and they just gave them away for the two free agent pipe dream. :hhh:
but you stayed shytting on Clarkson, which is it? :francis:

I think Clarkson was traded also due to Josh Hart's play lately. lowkey shooting 39% from 3

Cavs have no cap space. It's highly unlikely they will be courting any superstars unless they tamper and pull off a Chris Paul to Houston scenario. Even if Lebron leaves.

Clarkson and Nance are good players but their ceilings are lower than the guys they were losing minutes to on the Lakers, and development is more important on bad teams.

What I take away from watching them on the Cavs are how much better the young Lakers core would look with a superstar (or two :wow: ) leading them, and getting them open shots and easy looks. The Celtics are another example of this. And I believe our young core is better than the Celtics' young core.

I think we should stay the course. Things are finally looking up. Clarkson, Nance, and D'Lo had to be sacrificed but now we have so much more flexibility, and as long as we continue to draft and develop well, the reserves of good, homegrown role players will keep us fed.

I enjoy watching JC and Nance flourish on a good team though!

They don't have their pick this year. :martin:

I always went back and forth with him. For what they got in the trade...I would not have done it. Sacrificed two quality young guys for cap space and a late first.

The best case scenario this offseason is signing one star. If they do that (or if they don't), they're gonna re-sign Randle for $15-20 million a year...so what's the point of the extra cap space? They coulda kept those two and done the same thing. :yeshrug:

I agree with Hart probably having a lot to do with Clarkson leaving. I like him a lot.

They'll be short an instant offense guy off the bench (from the perimeter) if they don't bring back IT though and we're still not sure if he's gonna get his quickness back.

Ya'll see Clarkson moving out there playing good defense? :russ: I saw him running out to contest shots and manning up chest to chest against bigger guys.
How come Walton couldn't get that out of him? :francis:
Nance.:wow:

Magic better get somebody this summer. If he can't PG13 or LeBron he better pull in something.

He's not playing on a bad team anymore. Expectations are through the roof.

There's been talk of trading Clarkson before Hart's turn around. That trade was all about getting of Clarkson's contract just to create the second max salary slot. I was pissed at the D'Lo trade but that actually turned out damn good in my opinion. I hate seeing Clarkson and Nance go and wish the Lakers waited until they got a commitment for a star to sign before trading them away. The same trades would've still been there.

Bright side though it does free up a lot more time for the development of Hart, Kuzma, and Randle. Plus Lakers been killing it in the draft so that late first can hopefully lead to them drafting a good player.

If Hart continues to develop into a great role player and we get a good to great max player then the D'lo trade will be a successful trade.
