I live basically 10 minutes from Downtown SS and Takoma, 10 minutes from Downtown DC, Riggs Park/Fort Totten areas. It could raining like crazy in SS and Downtown DC, and virtually nothing in my area(Brightwood).

It's been days where I'm in SS and it's raining and as soon as I cross Eastern Ave or Blair, there's no rain.
