You have a whole generation of new Yorkers that didn't experience new york in its 80s...

Throwing positive/negative stats to people who didn't live thru it is pretty pointless...

If someone's IMMEDIATE comfort zone feels threatened, that's all that matters to them...

I definitely feel less safe in new york than even 5 years ago...from trains to even walking around....

You see any nikka that don't look right, you better be on HIGH alert...
They have no idea. I got a breh who I build with regularly who lives out here but is not from here. He moved out here in the mid 2000s when it was cleaned up.

80s and 90s level of crimes are here but will never make it to the mainstream media because of certain financial levels of risk.

For those in here who get on their soap box saying it’s not as bad and quote stats and numbers, I laugh. If you are 40 plus and you been out here, and still have an active line to the streets, you know where it’s trending towards and it definitely isn’t good.

Breh, this is nothing new. I used to work in Midtown at GTC when a woman was bust over the head by a homeless man in front of the Citigroup on Madison & 42nd. I remember the days when stabbing a and robberies would frequently occur at Bryant Park until the early 2000s when BofA moved in across the street and they cleaned it up.

The irony behind the story in the article is that it was written by the notorious Jayson Blair… The turn of the millennium and shortly afterwards was wild fukking time.

I believe I still have the Newsweek issue when he got exposed laying around somewhere

This is fear mongering and a move to put pressure on the next administration to haphazardly harass and arrest black people.

Citibank has offered private shuttles for over a decade. I don’t know what that has to do with a surge in crime.

A black kid was killed for a Moncler jacket at Bryant Park a few years ago and there wasn’t a high alert for whites to “dress down”. But hey, who cares, right?

As much as I'm against these dumbass nikkas running around robbing people, couldn't give af about these rich ass cacs:camby:. Their bullshyt is one of the main reasons the country is in this situations its in right now anyway.
That’s the other side to the coin. The universe giveth unto them but it surely takes as well. What good are your prized possessions if you cannot enjoy them in peace? It’s hard to have it both ways in the concrete jungle but hey, stay ready, head and and hips on a swivel and hands up? Guard your grill. What we are seeing here is all the years the rich got to enjoy in NYC through gentrification and shipping it’s undesirables everywhere else. Crime went down when they shipped everyone out by raising the prices of everything. Most of the people from here are not really from here anyway. The game is the game and to quote Omar, it’s all in the game yo”.

Chris Rock said if best, nothing says :mjpls: more than a 5,000 dollar a night hotel stay.

This article is bullshyt. There are several homeless people in these areas because the covid hotel/shelters were in that area and shutdown so the homeless have been camped out in these areas since the summer. Most of these people will not bother you. Them trying to draw a connection between them and rising crime while leaving out several key factors is blatant white supremacist propaganda.
Just from the headline I knew it was from NYPost or some right wing blog.

If you live or work in this metro area, you already know that the wealthy don't wait for the piano to fall on their heads to know which way the wind is blowing. Others might, but not the business leaders of the city.

Your comments about the publicly reported shootouts in places where it never happens, sounds like "people get shot, everyday B". Again, those of us without the capital or resources to directly affect change might just accept "random acts of violence". Wealthy New Yorkers will not just accept it, and will use their resources to curtail it.
Bro, you’ve been posting right wing babble on here for years. I quite literally work right near the area they’re talking about as many lawyers do and this is all bullshyt. @Serious what is with this white supremacist crime agenda in TLR?

As they should. As we would all do if we had the resources to promote legislation that would protect our livelihoods.

Chicago, NY ,etc employees are facing the same challenges when commuting to work. It's not even about flashing high end clothes or cars, it's about public safety breaking down to the point where people are afraid going to and from work.

Please stop. Its always the black folks who see themselves as everything but black that are quick to talk like you.

Remember, joe biden didnt draft the crime bill with protecting your black ass in mind. You should listen to his crime bill speech and the rest of his speeches if you want to know who hes invested in protecting and who he wants to imprison or put on death row. He already told you about what he thinks of haiti and you still up in here fetch his water like a lapdog talking about we need a a new bidens law. Cut it out

The homeless/mental illness issue is the problem in NYC, the gang inspired crime stays in residential areas.

But the homeless are all over the city

Yeah. The mental illness shyt needs to be addressed.

At least with the gang shyt, it's mostly personal beefs in areas you don't need to be standing around in. But the mentally ill can be literally ANYWHERE and catch you at any time.
