Real talk though, because of the extreme amount of money you can make in the industry, companies have gotten so selective in hiring practices, that they only really hire people that come from upper middle to upper class backgrounds since you will be client facing with extremely wealthy people. Class bias in hiring practices have been a way to maintain white racial dominance without being obvious about it.

Porter who went attended the Lawrenceville School and Princeton, and plays squash is going to have more in common with his co-workers and high net worth clients than Jerome who went to New York Public Schools and CUNY and plays basketball. This industry automatically shuts out whole swaths of black candidates who don’t come from high status backgrounds. And the truth of the matter, Black people are not really familiar with the kinds of jobs in the industry and when they do its a bit too late. High finance has been the domain of white generational money and they got all types of barriers in place to keep it that way.

I want more black folks to become exposed to Investment Banking, Private Equity, Venture Capital, Hedge Funds, Managment Consulting, etc... so we can start breaking into the industry.
