I don’t think he’s wrong. Cats get real greedy not realizing EVERYBODY can’t be a celebrity barber.

Other than them “enhancements” how has cutting hair done any differently than it was 15-20 years ago? It’s cool to not be Whole Foods, just be the best Albertsons, Giant, Safeway, Stop n Shop, etc you can be.

It's a lot of extras barbers are throwing in to justify $80-100+ cuts...massages, hot towels for exfoliating your face... the problem is nicca I don't want all that shyt just give me a $20 basic low fade, I'll tip you $10 and be on my way.

By his logic 80% of people would rather pay 20$ and get a slightly worse cut. And if everybody loves a good deal, why not just undercut everybody else and charge 15$:unimpressed:

You put yourself in a tight spot when your business relies on 10% of the market, but what do I know.

Maybe, maybe not. Dealing with that 10% clientele means more guaranteed money, atleast moreso than regular folk who will skip out on paying the bill or haggle. Rich people can be cheapskates too, but more than the average person? Dont know

Would you want to paint 10 $200k houses or one $2 million house? Who's more likely to have the funds up front?

That's the point, it looks good on paper but next year when they go with another painter I'm out of a business.

What do you mean when? If you did a good job why would they go with another painter? For a cheaper price?

Business 101 says cheap price = bad product

Makes no sense and you did not understand what he was saying. Basing your pricing around a very small group of people vs the vast majority is a losing proposition for most barbers, because expecting people to pay that type of money consistently is wrong.

Having a steady stream of customers paying good money vs relying on a few big spenders is not only a better long term strategy but also what most barbers should be doing. Most barbers are not going to be getting enough high spenders, if any at all, to charge exorbitant rates.

There could be a million reasons why they'd go with another painter, you're out of business either way.

Also something called "low barrier to entry".
