When I moved to the DMV from Philly in 2015, I left a good barber and was worried about finding a good one down there

I found a chick that cut hair and she started out $40 and she was sharp

After a few months, she went to a new shop and started charging $45, no problem

After a few more months, she opened up her own shop at Lenfant Plaza, $50 a cut, no problem

After a year, she went up to $60 a cut and that's when the issues started

She started cutting celebs and athletes...she eventually went up to $100 a cut and I had to gracefully bow out

She was super sharp, always got compliments on my cut and beard but I just couldn't imagine paying that much every 7-10 days

I'm up, but I ain't a millionaire

Too many barbers want to get to cut celebrities hair for triple-figure prices, and not for the regular brehs anymore. Too much contempt and animosity towards the 9 to 5 brehs and their reasonable prices. Everyone wants to be a superstar IG clout demon.

They can't find out how much u make exactly. A booth cost $200 a month. That isn't shyt. That's 3.5 cuts
If the owner is reporting (inevitable if they want to remain in business for any real length of time, they'll have an idea. Also, if you're not reporting income, you probably have no or bad credit, and won't be able to make any non-cash purchases. It's a can of worms. If you do, it's eating heavily into your profits.
