We’re getting hosed here on the West Coast. I’m $60 all in here in the Bay.

When I first moved out here there was a guy charging like $120 for a cut…TF?!?

First thing I do anytime I go back to Nigeria is go to my main barber.

They have the VIP treatment which comes with a cut, beard trim and a foot pedicure (wash feet, clean, file and trim toenails). Nigeria is hot and men tend to wear more open toed shoes/sandals so not uncommon for men of means to get pedicures. No polish or buffing though :whoa:

All of this for $20-25

$120 is crazy, and the haircut is probably not that tight. There were Barbers in LA trying to pull that and reality hit them and they dropped the prices.

I found this brother in the UK charging £120 (~150 USD), and I can respect this and say this is worth it

It’s $30 to get a beard line up now :why: barbers out here treating it like a full haircut now

it low key is a full haircut if they're tapering you up :yeshrug: It just depends on how detailed a barber is with his craft. I've had nikkas ask me "you just get a line up?" literally a week after i got my shyt done. And I got locs so Im just getting my beard lined up and tapered. Of course I dont pay because Im the owner lol but when your barber is that good, it's worth the price.

What that cash flow look like? Is it worth it owning a shop?
:patrice:

it's a good business breh. Passive income, i dont gotta be there like that. You make a decent portion of your revenue from selling products.

I would say sometimes it's hard finding serious barbers. Barbers, hairstylists, etc, they really be all over the place. I've had to fire multiple great barbers for being high at work, and I aint talking about weed smh. I've had to fire really good hairstylists for being whores and bringing drama to my shop.

But I can't complain, I got some real loyal soliders who've been with me for 5+ years. I got guys who are former bangers, guys who've done 10+ years inside, and watched them become great, loyal, consistent barbers. The guys who are serious about changing their lives realize that barber money is better and safer than dope money when you really get your clientele cracking.

Nowadays though you just gotta watch out for these rents. Commercial landlords taxing like crazy. My spot's rent has gone up considerably over the years. Been thinking about moving the shop, if not I'm gonna have to raise the booth rent. All of that factors into barbers getting "greedy" and raising their prices.

yeah, people complain about the price of everything lately, but the cost of doing business has skyrocketed since covid. it's not just "everyone's greedy"

@Raw Lyrics how much does your friend charge for hair cuts? You mentioned he was Hispanic and works in New York sanitation as well.

I'm bald now....I stopped getting cuts from him back in 2017, I was already rocking the Kobe cut due to my receding hairline. In 2017, I was giving him about 25 bucks. But that's cause we were homies from the cradle. His non-friend clients at that time was giving him anywhere between 35-60 in 2017. and he would also have those clients who would give more in exchange for priority placement.

I'm gonna hit him up now and see what he says.

These are my people, three barbers, Casper, Adrian, and Angelo had Sunset Park Brooklyn on smash during the late 90s-early 2000s era. Casper still has his shop and my boy Ang opened up a shop in Dyker Heights, he eventually gave the business away to his barbers after he went full time with Sanitation. He still cuts from his home in Dyker Heights. Adrian taught Casper and Angelo and still works at the shop my boy Angelo used to own:

Update: He still charges $30-35 but told me nearly all his customers give 40-50 anyway. Mind you, he doesn't have any overheard, he cuts from his two-family in Dyker Heights, he has a dedicated room for cutting hair.

Depends on what kind of haircut you get and does it include beards, etc.? Could be over 65.

Mine is just $40 for Taper Fro. $20 for lineup and beard. I always get lineup included beard for $20 and I tip him for $5

Before covid it was $20 after covid it is over $40 to $65 for the whole haircut and beard
