I mean ok…source? :gucci:

Flowers for the dead is a long tradition, funerals and burials, and memorials, so Oschino is referencing that

I don't have a quote, but there's also a Cuban Link song called Flowers for the Dead for Pun, that must have been from 2000 or 1999

but, I don't have a famous literary quote no, feels like one. interesting convo though, not trying to to say it's one way or the other.

This is what I was thinking of

" Dead people receive more flowers than living ones because regret is stronger than gratitude"

it's linked to Anne Frank? but there's no real source that says it, but it's an old quote/reference

and right in line with the way Nore uses it

No shyt :mjtf:

Got me feeling like KRS teaching hip hop 101….Yes flowers for the dead is a long tradition, but the essence of a hot bar is goin in the other direction to up the ante. He’s saying ‘yea we know everybody says bring flowers for the dead, but where’s my soup when I’m sick

It’s the latter part that makes it an iconic bar. The essence of it being ‘I’m gonna help you/uplift you while you’re still alive’. And instead of saying ‘bring you your soup’, it morphed into what sounds better which is ‘bring you your flowers’

Yea, that’s a 1 of 1 original bar

I mean, I get that, I didn't want to say "obviously" because it sounds condescending lol

I get Oshcino's bar, Tales Of a Hustler II is one of my favorite songs of all time

but Nore doesn't really use the quote the way Oschino does, or am i wrong?

The way NORE uses the flowers line is close to exactly how that old quote uses it, you don't think so? again if I am wrong, I'll be wrong.

Lol Well I didnt wanna say obviously either you the one said ‘Oschino is referencing the practice of bringing flowers to one’s funeral’ :pachaha:

But yea Nore is using it the exact way Oschino is. Just instead of ‘ima bring you your soup while you sick’ he’s saying ‘I’m gon bring your your flowers while you can smell em’. Jalen rose says it in the vid above ‘the point is appreciate people while they’re still here’. Same thing

I'll give Oschino the credit because he was first but I always thought Kanye popularized that saying with "people never get the flowers while they can still smell them" on Big Brother.

Want to say both the Oschino quote and the Bleek line are older, one is a like a literary reference, and the Bleek one is maybe Malcom X, or am I way off?

I always though the Bleek line was a revolutionary one but after some looking, it appears to be an original

man, I had Bleek's debut in 1999, he was one of my favorites at that age, and there was hardly any Bleek fans in San Diego circa late 90's

Used to argue with E40 and Kurupt fans all day

There's this dope new website, www.google.com, bruh :francis:

He definitely hit that

I'm also glad she explained she was talking about Rapper Memphis Bleek. For a moment I thought that Nobel prize winning physicist Memphis Bleek might have said that same quote somewhere as well.
