I mean ok…source?![]()
No shytFlowers for the dead is a long tradition, funerals and burials, and memorials, so Oschino is referencing that
I don't have a quote, but there's also a Cuban Link song called Flowers for the Dead for Pun, that must have been from 2000 or 1999
but, I don't have a famous literary quote no, feels like one. interesting convo though, not trying to to say it's one way or the other.

This is what I was thinking of
" Dead people receive more flowers than living ones because regret is stronger than gratitude"
it's linked to Anne Frank? but there's no real source that says it, but it's an old quote/reference
and right in line with the way Nore uses it
No shyt
Got me feeling like KRS teaching hip hop 101….Yes flowers for the dead is a long tradition, and the essence of a hot bar is goin in the other direction to up the ante. He’s saying ‘yea everybody says bring flowers for the dead, but where’s my soup when I’m sick
It’s the latter part that makes it an iconic bar. The essence of it being ‘I’m gonna help you/uplift you while you’re alive’. And instead of saying ‘bring you your soup’, it morphed into what sounds better which is ‘bring you your flowers’
Yea, that’s a 1 of 1 original bar
Lol Well I didnt wanna say obviously either you the one said ‘Oschino is referencing the practice of bringing flowers to one’s funeral’I mean, I get that, I didn't want to say "obviously" because it sounds condescending lol
I get Oshcino's bar, Tales Of a Hustler II is one of my favorite songs of all time
but Nore doesn't really use the quote the way Oschino does, or am i wrong?

Want to say both the Oschino quote and the Bleek line are older, one is a like a literary reference, and the Bleek one is maybe Malcom X, or am I way off?
I always though the Bleek line was a revolutionary one but after some looking, it appears to be an original
man, I had Bleek's debut in 1999, he was one of my favorites at that age, and there was hardly any Bleek fans in San Diego circa late 90's
Used to argue with E40 and Kurupt fans all day

He definitely hit that
I'm also glad she explained she was talking about Rapper Memphis Bleek. For a moment I thought that Nobel prize winning physicist Memphis Bleek might have said that same quote somewhere as well.
