:what: He second in all of mlb in rbi. 1 behind abreu. Just his power numbers are a little down this year.

Homer Bailey might be the least deserving, dudes not even a top 5 pitcher on the Reds gets 100M. has one above average year to his name

Votto is playing poorly AND getting hurt every year, Brandon Phillips hasn't exactly torn it up since signing his big one but he is an elite defender and hasn't fallen off a cliff at the plate (yet)

Didn't Tulowitzki sign a 10-year deal a year or two back? He's panning out, but his team isn't :manny:

Tulo stays hurt though...and that team is only above average once over 4 or 5 years...

So from the perspective of having a star player and probably making money off his jersey sales and stuff...yeah it's great...

From the perspective of actually winning anything...no...not so great...

I guess it all depends on how you view the deal...Of course Miggy won't hit like he has the last 4 years forever...but a steadily declining MIggy is still a top 20 hitter in baseball...

Verlander on the other hand...that dude legit might not be the 5th best pitcher on his own team...

I always thought Votto and Maur deals were weird...both guys who hit for average but hit an inordinate amount of little dribblers that somehow found holes...things that will not continue to happen over the life of a contract...

The twins have been so bad the last few years nobody cares...but Maur deal is one of the worst in baseball...dude never had any pop to him so the second he stopped hitting for average it was going to get ugly...AND he can't catch anymore...yikes...
