LMAO..doesn't he get 1mill a year for doing nothing for 25 years or something...cot damn he's living the life
They deferred the contract, so basically they have to pay him a milli a year till 2035, Wilpon thought he'd be all good with that, but that shyt all backfired once Bernie Madoff was exposed and Wilpon was in the Ponzi scheme.

The Teixeira contract was worse than the A-Rod contract.

And by the way, the Jeter contract is one of the worst ever, too.

Statistically the worst defensive SS of all-time, breh.

I don't care how many jerseys that guy sold.
Overall he cost the team wins, B.

And I'm a Yankees fan.

The fukk?

:wtf: Attempt to explain this.
Analysts studied every shortstop in baseball history using all sorts of different ways to rate defense, and in every single examination, Jeter ranked last or close to last among defensive ability.

Even Baseball-Reference, which uses a more relaxed version of Defensive WAR ranks him at -9.7 for his career.
He was a great offensive talent, but his defensive problems meant that the Yankees could have won more games with a better SS who maybe didn't have as good a bat as Jeter did.

Especially over the last 7 or 8 years of his career.

His 10 year contract ended 4 years ago and during that time span he won 5 gold gloves, appeared in 3 world series and won one.

For what could be said about Jeter's last 2 years in NY, his giant contract wasn't bad at all. Even the 4 year deal he had to end his career produced 2 good years which is reasonable for a SS in his late 30's. Now I'm not the biggest Jeter fanatic, but of all the bloated Yankee deals we've seen, JETER'S is the one that stands out? :childplease:

Literally none of Jeter's Gold Gloves were legitimate.
And handing him 45 million dollars in that last contract was overpaying him by at least 25 million.

I don't think anyone's gonna debate either point necessarily, BUT, hardly does it merit any sort of chatter amongst awful contracts like the ones mentioned. Like I said, a 4 year deal at 37 years old, he gave you 2 good years, 1 he barely played and one where he sucked, his final year. All in all, you'll take it, because for whatever Jeter lost defensively, he had the bat to more than make up for it.

What's next? Manny Ramirez's tenure in Boston was a disaster because he couldn't field 310 feet of real estate?
