I'll be damned if people don't have alexas, hair dryers, blow dryers, Clippers, electric toothbrush chargers, waterpiks, radios, their phone or tablets, plugged into the bathroom outlet all while they take showers, baths, brush their teeth, wash their face, hands, etc. And no it doesn't justify using a hot plate or a toaster, or an air fryer in your bathroom. But gcfi's were created for a reason.

Not for hot plates and I inspect homes for a living. That's an electrical injury/fire waiting to happen, ESPECIALLY if the breaker is bad, so saying 'That's what they were created for' is ignorant. The fact that the plate still worked when they're designed to shut off if anything above as little as 5 mA above their rating is detected shows THAT one is 'bad'.​
