explain this part please?

It was the first time in years where two separate groups of guys (stables) who weren't just thrown together (legit) had animosity (beef) with each other. What made it better is at the time both groups were being built strong and you really didnt know or care who would come out on top.

Judging by the crowd's reaction, that feud could and should have went on much longer.

Let's just work more with Evolution and build these guys up. So we did. Then right after we built the hell out of them and they were so strong as a unit, they broke them all up. I said, "What is wrong with you guys?"

Literally, it was Hunter [Triple H] and Stephanie [McMahon] who laughed at me, and Hunter goes, "We don't even know if it's going to be any good." I swear to God.

Then, they were talking about me being a baby face. I was like, "I'm not a baby face, I'm a heel." I said, "The fans want me to be a heel. They love me as a heel." They said, "No, they're going to be so happy you're back, so this is how we're doing this." I told them, "It's only going to last for about five minutes the first night I come back because they want me to be a heel. I'm a good heel." They just said, "No, no. They're going to love you."

These are the only parts of the interview I didn't agree with. The Shield breakup was perfectly done and was the epitome of effective storytelling. The Shield was literally at their peak strength, it wasn't gonna go anywhere but downhill for them after that 2nd Evolution win. And GOTG was definitely a big risk both critically and financially so I don't know if Triple H and Steph were shortsighted in that regard. It was Marvel's first foray into the "we do what we want" territory. And Batista returning as a face was not really that big a mistake, fans turned on him because they wanted Daniel Bryan, but people were still ecstatic to see him back and he was getting cheered all up until the Rumble win. If anything WWE wisened up earlier than usual with turning him heel because we see how stubborn they are with Reigns

Still don't get why they scoffed at cross promoting GOTG. They've cross promoted MUCH worse from people who aren't WWE family.

The Marvel association alone should have made it a no brainer.

Not to mention one of the stars of the movie is a homegrown talent that you just bought back to try to sell some tickets.

If that HHH line is true, I don't see how Tista can fukk with him after that.

Nah they should've waited a month for the MITB ppv for the Shield split. Seth wins the briefcase with the help of Ambrose and Reigns, then the next night he turns on them because he thinks he deserves it all to himself.

Yeah but Batista was basically saying they shouldn't have broke them up so soon after their win and that they should have been kept together for a lot more time. After MITB would have been a pretty fast breakup as well

There was literally nothing left for Shield to do besides one of them go after the WWE Championship. They had beaten Wyatts. They beat EVOLUTION twice. In a row. They had beaten Cena. They'd beaten Bryan. Punk. Put Taker out of action. Keeping them together any longer would have had them go from ultimate stable people marked out for to the Wyatt Family.

I get what Dave is saying about the The Shield break-up but even tho it was sudden and fast, it was honestly done well. NOBODY saw it coming, and it was legit shocking when it happened. I think there was still potential for them as a crew but only for a little while longer.

Sounds like you're describing the Wyatts vs Shield..the Evolution reaction wasn't that good.

No most people truly did. No one went out of their way to read Guardians of the Galaxy comics back in the day. But HHH should have had more faith in his boy and not come off like a pompous a$$hole.

In the end Batista was right about everything and has more of a finger on the pulse than Vince, Stephanie and HHH. That is a sad state of affairs.
When it was was announced people thought it would flop maybe . But by the time that first teaser hit people didn't think it was gonna flop , then it went and outperformed the box office predictions.
