WWE star Batista recently spoke with The Washington Post to hype WrestleMania 30, and below are some highlights:

Returning as a babyface:

"They told me that I was going to come back and be this huge babyface. I said, 'no, it's not going to work.' They said, 'no way, they're dying for you to come back.' I said, 'that's going to last two minutes, just watch.' And sure enough it did."

I agree with all of this. But the way he was handled contributed a great deal to his return failing as well. There's blame to be had on both him and the wwe booking.

A guy who is that can't be saved by booking. When they decided to give the Royal Rumble to Batista who just came back over Bryan who had been working his tail off a whole year, how did they expect the fans to react?

I agree with you. He's at fault for not being in better shape. And not being convincing on the mic on live tv.

They are at fault for having the arrogance to ignore the Bryan situation and act like the fans would forget and cheer Batista. He should have been brought back as a heel anyway. Since most admit that's when he was at his most regarded.

There are a number of reasons his return was rejected. The fact that he was a face is not one of them.

Batista was well liked, but never considered a great. The Rock is on his own level and it made sense for Rocky to immediately be in a main event...

With Batista it just comes off as fake and pointless
