Countering in this game takes a lot more precision. Especially on the hard setting. Borderline pissing me off.

tbh it was a bit too easy in arkham city

is this game the best one so far?

i hope this aint like assassins creed where they are starting to milk the game and not really improving it

Batman: Arkham Origins Review
A worthy addition to the Arkham franchise.
By Simon Miller (@simonmiller316) On 24th Oct, 2013 at 5:30pm

Batman: Arkham Origins is a wonderful version of somebody else's game. While a return to the Arkham series is welcome – and if you take only one thing away from this review, it should be that Origins is a worthy entry – there's no denying that Warner Bros. Montreal has taken Rocksteady's tremendous template and crafted a similar experience.

This means you're still treated to, for my money, the best combat system in all of gaming, an excellent open world, and a Batman story packed with dozens of knowing remarks, easter eggs and references that will light a fire under any Dark Knight fanatic.

Origins' narrative too is fantastic. Warner may struggle to work its handful of villains into the equation seamlessly, but seeing the makings of Batman - including his more naive, immature nature - leads to some fine moments that give more weight to the character throughout the entire trilogy.

With all that said, it would be wrong (even as the Dark Knight fanatic I, unashamedly, am) not to underline how much of an extension this feels. Most of the secrets or surprises thrown at you are retreads of what have come before, and as satisfying as revisiting Arkham City's (expanded) environment is, you can't help but have a small sense of déjàvu, no matter how slight.

This extends to the likes of Riddler trophies and other side missions. All are well-implemented and addictive, but they're not of the quality achieved by Rocksteady, something that can also be said for the visuals and overall production of the game.

Boss fights prove to be an issue also. The majority have individual flashes of inspiration, but by and large they descend into messy battles that don't take advantage of the tools built up over the last 4 years.

Such issues do nothing to take away from Origins' strengths, though, giving you another chance to revisit a franchise that is surely now one of the generation's best. Ultimately, this is like a cover song done by a band you're quite fond of. It may never be better than the original, but it's a great addition.

Version tested: Xbox 360. Campaign played for 12 hours. Multiplayer not tested (servers offline when reviewed).

:ehh: Good enough for me...

cash grab with no innovation :comeon:
not every game has to be innovative nikka. arkham asylum/city aren't even a tired formula, and the best superhero video games to date.

shyt i don't think Uncharted (regarded as the best game/series of this generation) was innovative at any point besides the first game, and even that was just perfecting mechanics from other games. few games actually are.

if you're expecting this game to wow you the way the first two did, prepare to be disappointed then. it's not a whole lot of new shyt in this. fans of the first two games will dig it though, and probably enjoy some of the more obscure villains and lore that they've featured in this.

they should have never handed this off to a different development team. this release is good only because rocksteady provided the template, if this team heads another batman project it will likely suck.

uncharted 2 didn't crush uncharted 1 in innovation? :comeon:

i already know im going to be disappointed because this is a cash grab made by the B team. i'm going to skip this trash and wait for the real batman game to release in 2015. :ld:

i have it at home now and i agree. you would be disappointed.

and no, uncharted 2 didn't. what IS innovation to you? great cinematography? as if the MGS games haven't always had this. cover and shooting mechanics? all of which have been done since ps2 in kill.switch and before that even. i just don't know.

uncharted just did everything better than any other game. it crushes buildings in quality, not in innovation. i don't really wanna turn this into an uncharted discussion though.

ultimately, origins is just more of everything that made the first two great without bringing much of anything new to the table. i never really expect innovation when playing video games though, because few genuinely are.

Bet they would have given it a 9 if Rocksteady made it.

Japan, but from the 989
Sounds like an expansive DLC to me. I saw a couple developer videos and honestly...it doesn't look like they did shyt to the game. Just copy and paste. But Rocksteady did such a great job you can't mad that WB took it and added some stuff. But oh well. I'll probably cop it later. I'm just kinda bummed Rocksteady hasn't given us the new Batman piff yet.

Its more of the same. If you enjoyed the previous iterations, you'll enjoy this. If you're looking for them to reinvent the wheel then perhaps you gotta fukk outta here.

Since Nvidia is giving away Arkham Origins with new graphics cards I see the codes hitting eBay for about $25. same game a console gamer is gonna pay $60 for you can get for less than half on the PC. I wasn't gonna buy this but for $25 fukk it I'll buy. probably won't be that low on Black Friday sales.
I just copped this from someone on Neogaf for $28 flat. I love this shyt. It's like the most I'll pay for a PC game is $35 brand new day one.

damn near every new game is given away with graphics cards so you can just eBay the codes for under $30 for most games. i'm pre-loading now but my download won't be done till about midnight.

I just played it up until the first boss fight. This plays MUCH smoother than Arkham City does even with DX11 options up. I basically have it maxed out with phsyx off as well as Vysnc. I set my AA to FXAA high as MSAA cuts perfomance in half but I'm about to switch to Sweetfx and use SMAA.

I get mostly 60fps with these settings at 1080P. I haven't actually gotten out into the open world yet though. This is on my measly AMD FX4100 CPU @ 4.1GHZ, 8GB ram and 2GB 7870.
