I remember you could drive those hovercrafts up walls and that shyt became meta for winning breakthrough matches on certain maps.

People were doing that as well as putting tanks on roofs and everything

Nah you gotta be misremembering. The 2042 beta was terrible and really had the community shook since it was so close to launch.

The gameplay is definitely not as smooth as COD but people are really tired of COD and Warzone lately and will take anything new at this point.

Yup. The beta and the launch were an absolute dumpster fire.
COD is swirling at the bottom of the toilet.
The pandemic + Warzone was a match made in heaven but the subsequent releases continually diluted the experience and the hackers didn't help the cause at all. This is the absolute best opportunity DICE has to knock COD off that number one spot and the beta has given me very high hopes.
