Also Monsoon Burger in the north bay is good if your in the area. People have said nations is good but I don’t see the hype. Maybe In and Out too.

-everett and jones is solid. i only know of two: one in berkeley and one in jack london in oakland, go to the jack london one.
-Brenda's french soul food in SF is probably my favorite. they don't take reservations and there's always a line so just a heads up.
-Brenda's sister restaurant is called Brenda's meat and three. less options than Brenda's french soul food but still good.
-Angeline's in berkeley is good.
there's a vegan soul food spot right across the street from everett and jones in oakland. sounds weird but it's pretty good.
i recommend Brenda's. if you can't make it there then go to Angeline's.

My opinion is you looking for BBQ on the West Coast is kinda backwards. You down south for that. Asian restaurants are the ones you should looking for.

Queen's Louisiana Poboy Cafe (San Francisco)
Keith's Chicken & Waffles (Daly City/Colma)
Those 3 are good, there are other places but for the most part I don't care for them.

Southern Café/Bay Leaf deserves a mention too, one of the only soul food sit downs w/ table service in the area that actually has good service. The food is decent too
