But you do realize this would also put them in a box, right?

I loved the cruiserweights back then, but most of them never broke out of that. So then you just saw them wrestling eachother forever. I feel like Guerrero, Jericho, and Mysterio broke thru that ceiling for a reason... some of these guys you listed would always have that ceiling over them if they brought it back. A dude like Balor deserves more than that.

That's booking. Smackdown needs help and making it based around the cruiserweights would be dope. Especially if they book it prestigiously. Maybe even rename the belt after Eddie or something. 2 hours weekly for these guys would help them build their names, sell merch, etc. and of course the best guys (modern day Jericho, Eddie, etc.) can also weave in main belt storylines.
