often these studios will try to capitalize off a gaming ip while alienating the fans of the ip at the same time, which leads to poor word of mouth and negative marketing and eventually to a flop. No worse idea imo to try to start a new franchise with built in haters. never works.
instead they took the proper approach and as a result had a built in fanbase.
