Be honest. Outside of Kanye, Drake is the only one pushing the limit of rap these days

I didn't say he was. Phonte deserves as much credit too...but we're talking on a mainstream level. Drake's album, if it makes it to the radio, brings an element that will not have been on the radio before.
A few of the beats are cutting edge.. tahts all that really can be said about this album.

I can tell ya'll only listen to super duper popular shyt, because it's muhfukkas like Shabazz Palaces, Death Grips out here actually doing the shyt ya'll claim basic nikkas like Drake is doing.

singing r&b over beats that drown in and out is pushing the limit now?
I chopped it up with Ishmael a few weeks back.......they are definitely pushing limits with their sound and their message.......

edit: I'm not hating on Drake by the way, he's one of the best new artists in Hip Hop... but pushing the limits of rap? Kanye is doing some left shyt, so I'm with you even though it's not exactly something we haven't heard before, but Drake?

"Pushing the limit!?" How!?
Please explain

:childplease:

pushing what limit? the simping one?

Yes, please explain how he's pushing the limit of rap, esp since a 3rd of the album is singing

this thread is platypus shyt. the only shyt getting pushed is his by the fakkit that fukks him in the ass.
fukk drake :pacspit:

please go into further detail how this nikka is "pushing the limit of rap".....just heard his new album and he sticks to the same formula that he has used in prior releases........

Is he the first nikka to try and rap and sing and be mediocre at both? And even if he was...what does that really have to do with these imaginary limits of rap? What's the end game for artists trying to emulate this so they can be praised as genius too? To just not rap at all while getting the credit for pushing the limits of an artform that you barely participate in?

:why:

dradle drake is the biggest industry plant ever :upsetfavre:
he's bred to sell records w/his music geared towards females and teenagers, and....homo's :wrist:
having his feet planted solidly in the industry via degrassi and being jewish he's already had a leg up.
i hope you drake fans aren't the same ones who hate on macklemore. macklemore has a lot more invested and if you've ever seen him live you know he's earned every damn bit of shine he's gotten.
drake is one song away from losing the mic altogether and using a headset like beyonce or brittney and doing dance routines :stopitslime:

What are you talking about mayne... you're saying Drake is pushing the limits of rap, but by how? Including a different genre of music in RnB on his album? He's done that before

I can tell ya'll only listen to super duper popular shyt, because it's muhfukkas like Shabazz Palaces, Death Grips, etc. out here actually doing the shyt ya'll claim basic nikkas like Drake is doing.
