Be Honest...what do you do to support Black business

I started a thread a while ago asking about becoming a distributor, offering the coli an affiliate opportunity (no MLM ) and it barely made it to 2 pages (I wasn't mad with what I did get response wise though )

but it made me think about all of the talk and no action that goes on here and in real life.

Are we really supporting black businesses or are we just talking about it?

be honest brehs and brehettes... I'm definitely interested in what we are doing and we can do better.

if it's a product I am interested in buying I'll buy it.
now out right racist/prejudice shyt from the owners of a company will make me take business else where.

if you sell a product I'm trying to get and I got the money, I'll cop.

half the big business blacks act like they not "regular blacks" anyways. so fukk I look like on some "I only support black businesses" lol, the material they buy to make their products is almost always non-black owned so that shyt's dead to me b.

That's fair Trust me I'm not about "ONLY supporting black business" and overpaying etc. I guess my point was that we talk about what we are going to do and then in real life we don't really follow through. A lot of people talk about how pro-black they are and don't even try to support a black business. I don't think we have to reinvest all of our money in black businesses, but it is definitely a step in the right direction toward solving a lot of other socioeconomic problems to at least support each other where we can

I go to black businesses, but since there are not many, I try to go to places that are black friendly, aka don't give blacks shyt service and or hire blacks.

I'm willing to pay a premium and go out of my way to buy black. If I'm hungry and my first thought is to get fast food from a Wendy's etc., then I decide to hit up the black-owned restaurant around the way instead.

The other day I rolled into a black owned restaurant I patronize frequently in a predominantly white area like 20 mins after closing (had been chatting w/ my parents on the phone in the car in the parking lot and thought the store closed an hour later than it did). I walk in, and the black owner is like "Did you call in to order already?". I notice the time and say, "No...is it too late?". She says, "Well, we're closed but I can take care of you." I take a seat, the only black person in there. A few minutes later she beckons me to the counter and says quietly, almost whispering, "OK, we're going to get you your food. It should be out in about 5 minutes. Hang tight." Five minutes later, my food is bagged and ready to go. She'd prioritized my order in front of some of the other patrons. I don't know if it's because I was a frequent, regular patron, or because she appreciated my black dollar, but regardless that experience put a smile on my face. I want more of that everywhere.

Supports Big Black Business whose owners don't support their own people.that money is going into Italian cars, Vacations in Dubai, Hotels, Fortune 500 companies etc.


Definitely I still try to support smalls business like simply buying West Indian food instead of Chinese or Pizza once in a while. Most small black businesses really respect and appreciate the black dollar/support.

I live in San Diego and I see arabics (out here "Chaldeans" which are Catholic Iraqis) who always patronize each others businesses and keep the dollar tight. The markets and gas stations are all family owned and they have carved themselves a nice niche. It's these types of stories that give me hope as I venture into owning my own business. I'm not looking for a handout, but we need to look out for each other and pull each other ahead. If that's getting you your order earlier than they should...great... if that's you giving them your service...great.

Power starts with money and we need to continue to develop economically.

Personally I think that the internet can easily make people believe their own versions of reality. or just out right lie to pretend to be something their not. I seen the shyt on facebook all the time. so just because we say this shyt on the net doesn't make it so. it's good for discussion though as you've said because it can facilitate change within minds that are truly seeking it. but I don't for one minute buy everyone's claim that's made online.

Go to a black owned bank, try to shop at black markets or grocers, and black hair care companies. I honestly try my best to look out for those.

I buy my Backwoods at the black smoke shop even though it's not as close as 7/11 and doesn't have the same choices of flavors. I also buy my books from the black book store near my house. I'm trying to think of some different ways to keep my money black but those are where I've started from.
