For those of you who are fortunate enough to maintain employment throughout this event or have some type of cushion and won't be hurt too badly but the the economic downturn. My advice to you is to not waste this time and get a jumpstart on the rest of the competition by learning some type of new skill. A lot of jobs won't be coming back after this and for the low skilled jobs that do return there will be a lot of competition, which in turn lowers compensation. This is par for course in economic cycles. If you find yourself with a lot of free time in the next few months.. use that time to pick up a new skillset if your situation allows for it. And I'm not just talking just lower skilled jobs, 6 cert gang need to be on edge too.. with all the impromptu remote work policies going into place, once the higher ups get a look at the productivity numbers, they'll be adjusting budgets accordingly.. understand there will be a fundamental shift in how companies approach and appraise certain skillsets on the way back up..

From a tech perspective.. for some this can be an opportunity for a career change, for others it may be just retooling so they can fit right back into the workforce once the economy picks back up.. I'm just trying to get some of you to be ahead of the game..

There are numerous free resources on the internet to choose from..

If you're interested in tech/IT there's lots of information that can be found in this thread:

There are also resources like Udemy, Pluralsight, edx etc... invest some of that stimulus package money in yourself...

Anyone with info on other sectors, please add to this thread..
