Ive never seen ANYBODY wanting to dress like "Rocafella". And you're talking about poppin as in popular, thats not what i was sayin.
And when you talking "dressing like" you talking about Dipset and Dipset only. Tbh i dont even count Dipset as "Rocafella". It was just a business move. Now Rocafella had their symbol on Dipset albums, thats all. Dipset was around before tho. Its like counting ODB as Rocafella.
Its pointless to go back & forth about this tho becuz you'll always have your opinion & i'll have mine. You probably was a hardcore fan & have some memories attached to that era so therefor its bigger to you. But we'll just have to agree to disagree.
U sound stupid. Roc a wear was the biggest clothing brand. Probably was the biggest in hip hop history(Sean John not really hip hop). Had nikkaz throwing away jerseys and had nikkaz drinking what they drink. They movies are hood classics also( state p 1,2)
State p had a clothing line that sold like crazy and Dipset had none

Movies? The movie Cam was in can be considered a hood classic & that was Dame's sidegig. State Property movie a hood classic? Nah, disagree.
rocawear breh.
and even before they got their own clothing line, they were always on the pulse of what was hot in the streets and brought it front & center to the national audience. in terms of just urban culture/lifestyle, rocafella would have to be the goat label.
they were the "IT" label before dipset came over. dipset just made em even bigger.
but yea, props to dipset. i'd say they were bigger trendsetters. arguably the goat crew when it came to setting trends. a lot of the stuff they were wearing, was unheard of beforehand. and they actually made it pop off. as opposed to rocafella, where outside of rocawear, they were just wearing stuff that was already poppin up here. but the fact that they made it mainstream, just fueled their legacy. so yea, props to both labels, even if you want to keep them separate.
you talking bout "paid in full"? that's a classic movie PERIOD. not just a hood classic.
the state property movies are hood classics. yes.
If you talking the east coast, then maybe yeah. But as far as the rest, still not on THAT level like i said. Nowhere near close. Rocafella had its cool little run but it wasnt like that. Similar to G-Unit for a few years.
rocafella & g-unit are absolutely nothing alike.
and in terms of g-unit's run, it shouldn't even be mentioned in the same breath as rocafella.
the east coast is the epicenter of fashion. then it trickles down to the south & Midwest.
Thats what im sayin, whats the difference? You yourself said Rocafella "ran it" a couple of year no? The movies, clothing etc?
G-Unit had the same. A giant big screen movie with a succesful soundtrack. Record sales high as hell, esp considering they werent as many rappers in the click & for a shorter amount of years. Video games. Clothing. The list goes on.
And im not even a big fan of G-Unit either. But it just goes back to what i said before about people being biased in terms of what YALL liked & followed and therefor has set this high bar for it & re-written a bit of history.
50 cent was the hottest rapper in the game at one point, but g-unit never ran anything over rocafella as a whole.
and youre too focused on sales & stuff. by the time the movie & soundtrack came out, g-unit was already dwindling in the streets. and the movie was considered corny, along with their clothes breh. they were just doing numbers off the white & suburban fans they acquired thru the shady/aftermath connection by that point.
It's either me or it seems like every week somebody from The ROC...Dame, Beans, Bleek, Just Blaze, Cam, a dude from State Property...pretty much anybody not named Kanye or Jay is doing an interview talking about the breakup.
Move on already. The fans are over it. Nobody gives a fukk about The Roc breakup in 2016.
Hell, next week they'll be interviewing the janitor from the office trying to get his perspective on what happened.
How am i too focused on sales & stuff when it was to argue your point about Rocafella. I brought it up to compare it to your point. 50 cent was popular, yes, just like Jay-Z was popular & not Rocafella. Dipset was known as its own entity. Most people didnt even connect it like that. It was also just a business decision on Dame's part. But we all know both Cam & Dipset were around before.
You say the movie was considered corny, yet State Property is a hood classic. Like i said, its your opinion. It seems like you base it too much of that. Your entitled to your opinion but you said "movies, Rocawear" etc then when i bring up the same its not as relevant to the discussion? Cmon dog.
As for when G-Unit dwindled is another topic & irrelevant to this. Its like sayin when 50 came thru Rocafella was dwindlin already. They only had between 2001-2002/03, until Jay warned them about 50. Just like G-Unit had 2003-2006/07. So its the same shyt.
