Yes. So true. Beans was making his best material with Just Blaze, Kanye West, Bink, 88-keys, No ID, Buckwild, or even Neptunes. Not saying he's gotta use big names, but I'd rather see Beans link up with a producer and do an entire project or something. Someone that can hear his new voice and tailor some joints specifically for it. Despite having some classic production on his albums, I think a lot of it was Beans being constantly surrounded by amazing producers in his crew. Ever since '05, his production got way more generic when the crew fell apart and it seemed like Beans was making all the production choices.
I gotta go back and re-listen. The fact that I don't even remember much of it makes me think you might be right.
Beans on some of the more mystical/rare foreign sample Alchemist beats would be good.
He doesn't need softer beats, but he needs to be on beats where the drums aren't as prominent and rest within a sample. That way his vocals, raspy and soft as they are, blend and mesh.
The word that makes sense to me now is "moody".
His voice sounds like a person in a bad mood, and his beats and music needs to be moodier and not harsh but brooding.
Just off the top of my head:
Slow flow, Beans new voice, tell a dark story with that typical Beans introspection and he nikka got a whole new 2nd act to his career.

I'm convinced Beans is on that narcotic...he's got the tell tale signs of doing anything he thinks will get him on. Which is why every single step he took in the Meek situation was badly misjudged. He's not thinking clearly. He's moving like a fiend with just phantom licks in front of him.
