Unless there's compelling evidence that onside kicks lead to more injuries, I think this "announced onside kick" rule change is one of the worst in a long time.
I struggle to see the reason behind this.
Just an awful rule change.

They're obviously making everything a "safety" thing, but there are too many moving parts to that rule.

I think the best change made in recent years is the replay assist where if something is obvious, the NFL officials off the field will make the call and a team doesn't have to waste a challenge.
