Sometimes also in situations like this original song where the idea repeats, people will mix and match from different loops.

For example, this repeats four times. Some people could have use the first half of the third time and the second half of the second time as a loop. Or any other combination. You can chop and glue them together and maybe crossfade, use light effects and speed up slightly to mask the cut.

Basically this, something sounds off about how you looped it. Once you get the loop to sound even, the drums will fall into place better.

The musical idea of the sample repeats four times in the intro of this song and each one will naturally sound slightly different. Which one did you use for your sample?
After those bass notes in the beginning until it completely changes into more strings leading to Stevie singing

Thank you so much. I’m going to learn my DAWs more (Reason and FL 20) and get to creating. If you brehs have any advice, videos to recommend, any resources even if I have to make a purchase. Gladly accept them. Hip Hop and R&B are my focus.
Feeling Isaiah Rashad and SiR the most at the moment. I want to be as versatile as possible.

On and off as a teen. Recently got FL 20 but more for basic shyt and Reason via Reason + for sound design since sonically FL stock plug ins are booty. I got Studio One for mixing and mastering. I wish Logic Pro X was for Windows they got good instrument stock plug ins.

Yeah FL stock plugins are terrible, when I do use it I try to find cracked plugins. Slicex on FL makes it very easy to sample though. I haven't used the programs you mentioned, I'll have to check them out - heard good things about them.

Double the tempo and do everything in double time, that's what Timbo did. That Ginuwine song is 130bpm but it sounds like it's 65bpm. Use 32nd note repeat on the hihats.

I remember my bedroom dj days, that's when I found out how fast the bpms on Tim's were. I was mainly playing Jungle which was mostly between 145 to 155. And to my surprise I was able to mix his tunes into Jungle without having to speed up his tunes so much

I wanted to compliment your song but it’s like the madd rapper ‘21. The bounce and mixing is nice.

I sample with audacity :mjlol:

you might need someone to show you in person. Im no pro and admittedly i don't know exact notations but i think you are trying to do too much at the same time and too fast. Start with kick and snare without the breakdowns, then do the hihats and focus on the markers. Once you have both, do the breakdowns.
In person would be dope, I asked a friend if he could try to remake it on his free time. We’re not that close so we’ll see. What do you mean by breakdowns?

I find redrum harder so I’m ruling that out for now. Alright will practice with pads and look up tutorials more on drums with reason. This bullshyt not letting me change the velocity. Every other DAW lets you just slide it instantly.

Ok I will try that. Also what’s the proper term for this?
5259-BE8-D-5-A36-4617-BEF1-356-FFEC3-DF72.png

when I google measurements of notes or beats I get standard music theory on the basic shyt like time signature or 4 beats in a bar simple bullshyt. I want to learn properly.
So I can keep my questions focused more on struggle of recreating shyt by ear.

All I got is reason and fl 20. I’ve always been more of a melody maker or loop with the samples. Just now trying to learn chopping samples and drum programming whether it’s pads or click in.
1/16 =sixteenth notes or triplets
