it needs to be a decent combination of both to be a listenable record

if I had to choose I'd rather hear garbage lyrics over a hot beat than the other way around, because I can just shut my brain off and hear the instrumental only

Lyrics>beats without a question. There are many songs I like with beats that are considered shytty but I think have good rhymes.

Which is why ASAP Rocky is the best out right now :wow:

Fixed.

Any one else who qualifies as being superb or at least great in the beat/flow department? I'm trying to find some new shyt.

I don't fukk with Drake, Kendrick and Cole. I tried listening to some of Dom Kennedy (Yellow Album) and it was wack.

I'm taking recommendations if anyone has any. Keep in mind that I fux with Rocky heavy, so it's gotta be that beautiful hard shyt. No corny turn up and "Lyricism" rap, please.

Beats. So you're telling me if Guwop is spitting over the Scooby Doo theme then it's gonna be dope? :francis:

Yeah not a fan of all three. Cole I like sometimes, he ain't that bad, has some real nice songs

Everyone is on those three guys like they are so good, but honestly, what is kind of sup-par about all three of them is their FLOW. They sound very disjointed in with their bars, like their reading a book report in front of class. They think being lyrical absolves them from having a good flow. ASAP just does it so effortlessly :mjcry:

Lupe's new album is great example of awesome flow with lyrics. Big Krit and SchoolBoy Q's new albums are also pretty good

Not just effortlessly, but also with confidence. He rhymes from a position of authority, which is something I assumed was a must with all hip hop. But things started getting weird in the 2000s, and now it's become cool to sound self-conscious and emo as opposed to charismatic and confident.

anyway, Lupe's not for me. Can you recommend Big KRITs best project? Same for Schoolboy Q?

Thanks

I'm from the south so yall know what i'm going to say. If a track comes on and I'm not feeling the beat and cant vibe to it then I'm hitting the skip button.
