It was probably seen as a negative but the thing I liked about Bebe and Cece's songs were that they sounded like R&B. It was like the songs were gospel music but low key about it, but not to trick you or anything. You didn't have to be Christian or religious to like their music.

Crazy thing about it is....most gospel songs are basically love songs anyway. Not I wanna take you to bed love songs but on a pure love and admiration tip. You could easily switch up the words in many r&b songs to be more religious and they'd instantly become gospel. Bebe and Cece, whether intentionally or by accident, understood this and built their musical style around it.

Music is a damn beautiful thing, folks.
