Plumber
Carpenter

Computer scientist or scientist
Social worker
Lawyer
Accountant

etc...., there is just so much else you could do with your life at 34yo as opposed to joining a blood gang whose requirement is to allow people to throw haymakers in your direction. At least if he joined a boxing gym they'd teach him how to throw a proper punch.
