Honestly? I knew a fair amount since my parents weren't from the USA and had a generally more world view about the USA and put me up on game about other beliefs but this was still when the internet wasn't what it was and it was hard to get real time information without essentially reading tomes of information on primary subjects :manny:

I just ask because right now it seems like everyone is an expert :pachaha:

Still not a fan of islam though :whoa:

Before 911 Muslims were outgoing and proud. Always displaying anything "Islam" clothing, jewelry even riding around with a Quran on the dash.
Lots of young women were naming sons "Jihad" too.
The general consensus was dislike for the american govt but no real "hate" for the gen population. Mosques were vibrant and energetic esp around eid.

Now it's like Muslims barely trust eachother. Lines are drawn by race and nationality. Kinda sad

A lot. A few of my best friends in high school were Arab Muslims. Had some black Muslims from Africa as neighbors for about 10 years. I still speak to them and they despise ISIS.

I just saw them like anyone else. Philly has one of the highest Muslim (or at least black Muslim) populations in the country, so I was always around them. 99% of the barbershops are Muslim :russ: I can't even walk around in Center City without some of them trying to sell me body oil :francis:

My mother almost converted to Islam back in the day and keeps a Qua'ran to this day. She found out the dude she was gonna convert with already had daughter after my half sister was born. He converted anyway tho and I grew up with his other kids. Basically I knew quite a bit. A couple of my homeboys are Muslim as well. Everybody I kno is a Sunni. I haven't been around too many NOI but my mother used to have us read the Final Call growing up. I still cop the occasional bean pie from the homie at the intersection

I knew very little about Islam before 9/11.

I mean, I knew who Malcom X was... that sort of thing. But now thanks to 9/11 and research I am up on the filthy jew zionists and their occupation of Palestine. How muslim groups like Hamas and Hezbollah rose up to fight their cac oppressors (much like the Black Panthers did in the US) and how they are labeled terrorists (again like the Panthers) by western cac jew-owned media.

:ehh:
