Doesn't this explain that famous case where the people left their tent and died in a snow storm? Their clothes were off too. Can't remember the name but for ages people have theorized it was aliens or some type of nuclear test site.
Dyatlov Pass incident - Wikipedia

It says 6 died from hypothermia and 3 from physical drama. I didn't realize that in 2020 they concluded that it most likely an avalanche that killed the first group and cause the others to flee the tent.

Yeah but do you also suddenly also become an idiot? When I have a cold fever I know my body is hot but tricking me into feeling cold giving me chills, but my temperature is sky high. I know not to fall for it......you out in the snow whatever your body is telling you keep your damn clothes on

Having a fever and experiencing acute hypothermia are two different things though. Once a person is fully hypothermic there is no more coherent thought. Their bodies AND minds are "tricked" into thinking the absolute best thing to do is strip off their clothes and lay in the snow. And there's no "logical" part of their brain left to tell them otherwise.

If your fever gets high enough naturally (which will not happen most likely) it can cause brain damage. Fever caused by full onset Hypothermia can cause a fever to exceed that temperature though

Can anyone link this reasoning with people participating in the polar plunge?
