Before the 2015 Hawks what was the go to example of the “fraud” team?

Top teams like Spurs and Lakers were still able to get their rings. KD and OKC would have probably got one too if he stayed. Mavs were right there but came short every time.

- 2001 (2nd round exit)
- 2002 (2nd round exit)
- 2003 (WCF exit)
- 2004 (1st round exit)
- 2005 (2nd round exit)
- 2006 (finals lost)
- 2007 (1st round exit)
- 2008 (1st round exit)
- 2009 ( 2nd round exit)
- 2010 (first round exit)

All these Mavs teams won 50+ games and had only 1 WCF and final appearance to show for which they lost both. Dirk and Mavs were criticized in real time for not getting through, that is why 2011 meant so much. Having that much regular season success and this being the result is definition of disappointment.

Imagine a modern day team that wins 50+ games for 10 year stretch and doesn't win one, they would get destroyed too.
Yeah but look at the teams they lost too those years. They just got beat by better teams or other extremely elite squads

Outside of 2007 it's not like they were losing to lesser squads

A lot of the top teams were in similar tier, it wasn't like they were up 10-20 games on Mavs.

I will give you 2004 as an example, Kings only won 3 more games than Mavs during regular season and beat them in round one, 1-4. Mavs were an elite team the whole decade with a lot of short comings.

Same thing happened against Hornets, losing 1-4 in round one, this is the year after getting embarrassed by the We Believe Warriors.

2010, they lost to your Spurs who were the 7th seed, 2-4 in round one.

The only thing consistent in those 10 years are Spurs, Lakers and Mavs. Only one of those 3 teams didn't get a chip.

The 2015 Hawks made the ECF too, if you believe they aren't one then fair. Mavs were consistently at the top and didn't break through, if fraud is not the word then I guess disappointing is.

Point is competition they faced....

Beatin Duncan Spurs, KG Wolves, SSOL Suns, those stacked Blazers and Kings teams

VS
Beatin 38 win Brook Lopez and Iso Joe led Nets, Beal led Wizards wit Wall out, Isaiah and Bradley led Celtics

:mjlol::deadrose:

The difference in level of conferences of 00s West and 10s East is comedy. Sayin they both made conference finals don't mean nothin considerin the competition faced.

The Hawks wasn't a fraud team you piece of shyt. They were a sum of parts and when Thabo got fukked up by the NYPD, it fukked up our rotation and put a nikka like Bazemore in the mix who couldn't mentally play the game like Thabo could. Once you remove a part, the puzzle breaks and we looked more like a 45+ win team. Before they fukked him up, we was looking like a 65+ win team and we were special as fukk.

nikkas really didn't watch us till the playoffs and we were barely decent at that stage so it made us look bad. But nikkas who watched every game could tell you, that squad, not the Warriors is what lead to the modern NBA we see today with 5 outs, all 5 guys can shoot, we can switch, play man, and change our defense up within games. nikkas just don't realize how good we were as most didn't watch us unless we played their team that season.

It was a 6 man rotation that did all the damage. Once one piece was missing, it wasn't the same team or even close.

No one is directly comparing the Hawks to the Mavs or West vs East.

Mavs were right after Spurs and Lakers as the most consistent regular season team throughout the decade. They lost multiple times during that decade in round one, these were series where they were not competitive at all. The competition was on the same level. Why are we acting like Mavs were going against competition that was not in the same tier?? Being a top tier team and then consistently losing 1-4 or 2-4 is a disappointing result. Dirk and Mavs were criticized a lot around that time for not getting through. Spurs and Lakers would not be getting these excuses if they failed like the Mavs did that decade.

Those were all great teams though. 2004 Kings were really talented, 2008 Hornets had probably CP3 at his best with Tyson Chandler and David West, and of course Tim/Tony/Manu in 2010

I'd say they were more of a disappointment than frauds. I'd liken them to the Steve Young 49ers after Montana left before they finally broke through in 94
