It's still ridiculous that Mack Brown went all in on Tyrone Swoopes as the Lone QB for the 2013 recruiting class. Dude passed up on J.T. Barrett & Cody Thomas.who were obviously best QBs in the the state of Texas in that recruiting class.. Both of them would've committed on the spot if Texas had offered.
BREHS, when Swoopes came for Junior Day at Texas back in February 2012, Mack Brown really invited big money donors to come meet with Swoopes because he was so convinced he was the next VY.

What infuriates me the most is that Mack was only willing to offer guys like RGIII at "athlete", yet hands Swoopes the keys to the kingdom at QB.
Remember when he did the same thing with Chris Whaley and promised him he'd be the only running back that year (even though he was already too tall for the position) so we completely ignored Christine Michael and every other running back in that class? At least Whaley ended up being a stud for us at DT. Wonder what we can convert Swoopes into next year....

We got Cody and he looked lost out there for us at times, but I blame Josh Heupel for that. He ruined a once confident Trevor Knight and to a lesser degree Blake Bell.
Word on the innanet streets are Cody will quit football and play baseball for OU instead, but we'll see. I can't help but think our coaching staff is the reason for that.
I NEVER(well rarely) blame the kids, always the coaches and ppl in charge.
Personally, i'd like to have y'alls Safeties over what we have.....but I also think Mike Stoops is clueless as a DB coach, and Bob has made so much money he simply doesnt care anymore.
But y'all have the talent, just need it to be put into the right place.
The weeks going into the Bowl matchup announcements, the rumors were that Texas would play either A&M, LSU, or Arkansas in the Texas bowl.
I wanted to play A&M not just because of in-state recruiting purposes, but because BOTH LSU & Arkansas are bad matchups for Texas.
Both LSU & Arkansas are Good pro-style power-running teams with big O-Lines that we don't face in the Big 12, while A&M is soft air-raid team like we face week-in & week-out in the Big 12 with a True Freshman QB.
Both LSU & Arkansas have good defenses that would definitely shut down our weak offense, with Front 7s that would dominate our O-Line. While A&M has soft-ass defense that we would be able to make plays against.
The SEC knew WTF they were doing when they decided not to let A&M play Texas in the Texas Bowl.

I NEVER liked the Watson hire to begin with. I probably been the only one on here that disliked the hire. His offenses make me want Greg Davis back and you know that's bad. He may be a good qb coach. But a good OC he is not. I think Charlie will succeed but he has to start caring about the offense if he wants to do so in the big 12.

Why did Mack or Harsin recruit a 1-9 QB to begin with? What really was the upside. Lazy azz recruiting from 2008-2013 has cost this program. I remember the JT Barrett and Tyrone Swoopes thing and the vast majority of the fanbase had no idea what Mack was doing.
Also yeah, I will be shocked if Tyrone takes another snap as qb at Texas. There should be competition but that should be between Heard and Gentry.

They could have had alot of people. And I hate to say this. But Watson could really be the nail in the coffin for Strong. I really do think he needs to make a change at OC.
