Like I said I'm willing to bet my life that over 75% of Lakers fans have never lived in California. BUT thats okay. There are few ways people become fans of a team:
• You grew up/lived there
• You grew up in a household where said team was the favorite
• You were a fan of a player on said team
• You "became" a fan when they got good AKA bandwagon

Of all these so called "long time Laker fans" who are all over the place and have NEVER set foot in Los Angeles. I can NEVER find any that became a Laker fan when they were winning 30-52 with Eddie Jones, Anthony Peeler and Nick Van Exel as their best players. They all became fans either during the glory Showtime (Magic) years or the LakeShow (Shaq and on) era.
And that is perfectly fine by me.

But why should the Heat be any different?

I'm sure YOU know plenty of Bulls "fans" that only became Bulls fans when MJ was there. Then they disappeared. Now you have a new batch with the arrival
of D-Rose. Teams HAVE to get better to gain fans and make more money. Other than that why spend money to get good?

Everyone here is an immigrant right? Whether your ancestors came to America in 1492 or 2002 they jumped on the boat at some point. Same thing with being a fan of a team where you are not from.
