Thanks man, I'm ordering it now. You sure it's efficient?
If you really want to learn a language in and out, nothing beats immersion. Books, classes, etc. all teach you up to a point, even though they are good ways to learn. Being immersed forces you to learn the language and even better you have people to communicate with. It's not always possible, but if you're serious about learning a language, immerse yourself in a place where the language is used natively.

Yes, I spent 2 years studying language techniques because I was never able to learn Spanish after studying for several years. Assimil teaches you complete sentences so you learn the words in context and not a vocabulary list and grammar rules like in school.

In addition to Assimil. I recommend you read the Fluent Forever website. His technique is to use Anki flashcards for the 2000 most common words in a language without using English, just the target language on one side and a picture on the other. Unlike him, I recommend Assmil first then Anki for words that you can't remember or that are relevant to your field of interest. There is no one perfect technique for everyone.

Be sure to immerse yourself by listening to podcasts in your target language. I listen to French business radio.

I was brought up with Dominican spanish. And it's a LITTLE different than Mexican spanish. Some words here and there that are different. It's a little bit more sloppy than traditonal Spanish imo.

I've never heard any South American type of spanish tough.

Here in NY, it's DR, PR, Mexican, Colombians, and I've met some Argentines here too.

I wanna learn Spanish, French, Papiamento, and Creole

Native English speaker but my family from all over the Caribbean. Im slowly learning Spanish now and took German in hs (AP level). I also understand Patois if that counts as a language

I have an ambitious project of learning all the main European languages of North and South America: Spanish, French, Portuguese, and Dutch. I'm also going to learn German because I lived there as a child.

I didn't realize you spoke Spanish. I suggest you do two or three Assimil lessons a day. You will finish the course in 30-45 days. You have the ability to be very conversant or even fluent by the end of the year. After you finish Assimil, keep listening to podcasts, watch videos, and do extensive and intensive reading. Extensive is reading large amounts, like a novel, for fun. Intensive is reading a paragraph or short article for deeper meaning and paying attention to grammar and sentence structure.

I've watched a couple of Argentine movies and that Spanish sounds like slurred gibberish to me.

Obviously I'm biased towards my own (dominican, rican). But IMO mexican spanish sounds corny as fukk. The best "generic" spanish is colombian I think, pretty understandable for everyone.
