Education makes you more aware of the world you live in. It doesn't necessarily speak to success and it definitely doesn't make you a "better" person, but I appreciate people who seek knowledge.

I'm into knowledge that increases a persons awareness of the world.
I asked because some of this discussion seems to be about different types of education, formal vs others.

I got family who don't have a high school degree, but have honor and loyalty, and I would die for them. I got fellow classmates that I would not lift a finger for in most cases.
So, I'm in the category of people who don't value formal education above all else. I take the measure of all things.
Educated women are twice as stupid as uneductated women, IMO.

I mean, really. The people who care about you probably think you're great. The people who don't care about you... don't fukking care.
It's funny. I grew up around money so I guess it's something that I view differently than most people. For most people I know, money is the start and end goal. If it's not about money then it's a waste of time. *shrug* IMO money is great, but only insomuch as it allows you to have freedom. Materialism is a problem. I make a good living, but I have boys who make 4x as much as I do and constantly flaunt their wealth. That shyt is tiring, but they're my boys so it is what it is. Nobody but my wife will ever know how much money I make, because it's nobody's business but ours.
For once I actually agree with @Mr.Forte on something. You're right bigmon. Being an educated individually doesn't mean you're an ideal spouse.
I hate when most people with a degree comes off cocky. Education is important if you're chasing whatever it is you want in life.
Education is about inspiring ones mind not just filling their head.

Depends. If your goal in life is to work to fulfill other folk's dreams & make them rich, cool. Like I said earlier, I believe most majors are nothing more than training for a job. And the cost is ridiculous.
My financial goals included buildin' collective wealth. Outside of a few majors, I'm not sure how you get that from a formal education. The value in my degree is that I also learned how to interpret financial statements, and I use that for investment purposes.
If I had it to do over and was goin' the school route, I'd major in entrepreneurialism, economics or finance. If I was interested in another trade, I'd couple one of those with whatever major.
But I'd probably skip college, obtain a needed skill and study entrepreneurialism & investment independently.

I've thought about going back to school, but not because I need it to advance in my career, just for personal growth and achievement. A formal education doesn't always relate to work. You can pursue a degree regardless.

Speak the truth brother. Noting is wrong with obtaining a degree to help you land your dream job (career) in the future. Most people have that type of mentally.

When I was younger, I really did think it was a pot of gold waiting for me after graduation, little did I know, that gold wasn't tangible...But something used to comprehend and spot the bullshyt this world had to offer... Education has made me poised, and a more effective planner...Pretty expensive maturation process if you ask me, The experience was the breeding ground for the man I am today though....

You are wrong and this thread is trash. Anyone can commit suicide or become a serial killer and the people most likely to do such are generally poor and uneducated people. They are the ones who are most likely to die, go to prison, seek mental health aid, etc. Educated people are least likely to become serial killers, die, go to prison, seek mental health, etc. So on these negative life variables alone, an educated person makes a better mate than an uneducated mate. Educated people are richer, healthier and smarter. They better handle life's affairs and face fewer hurdles in life they can't overcome besides. To postulate that an educated person doesn't qualify as a "ideal mate" is de facto the same as postulating that richer, healthier and smarter people don't qualify as "ideal mates" either, and that's a perverse assumption. Education is the difference between the first world and the third world; between living like a king and living like a pauper. In all countries, the educated people are the richest and most powerful.
